One Small Moment
My world changed so quickly
I unbuckle my seat belt, open the door, and go around to open her door. I take her hand and walk her up to the front door. I stood there not wanting to let her go. “Goodnight Miss, thank you again for a great evening.” I bring her hand to my lips, brushing them slowly across the back. I see the blush rise across her cheeks, our eyes connected.
“Again. Soon…. Please Sir.” She says as she opens her door to go into her apartment for the night. I see a softness in her shoulders, as she steps into her home, and gives me a small nod, closing the door. I take a step forward and place my rough palm on her door, wishing she would open that door and rush into my arms. Never wanting to let her go again. After a moment, I step back, sigh heavily, regretting bringing her home. I walk back to my truck, climb in, my eyes lock on her door one last time, giving her an extra moment to come out. To come back to me… this wasn’t goodbye, but it felt like my heart was ripping in two just from the distance. The knowledge of no knowledge of time until I see her again. I fell in love tonight, on our first date.
